The environment

Why we should look after the environment

I believe, that you should look after the environment because If don’t you will never see the green grass again! If you are one of those people who litter everywhere you better make a stop to it because if everyone copies you the whole planet will make the movie wall-e REAL!!!

In my opinion, we should definitely look after the planet like recycle all the stuff with 1,2,4, because if we don’t the planet will die and we will have to wear masks and we will be the ones to blame. There will be smog in the air and no H02.

I am sure that, if we pollute the planet we will have to wear big heavy suits and if that does happen I will be very sad/angry. You should be sad or angry too. If we work together we will make the planet get really healthy again.

Surely, if we don’t stop thermal heating it will go high and ice will melt, and smog will cover the sky with black. You will never see the blue sky again and the planet will die but if we stop factories from making plastic bottles, bags, toys, and all sort of other things made from plastic.

Therefore, the West Coast has lots of healthy streams and rivers.              There are lots of healthy invertebrates and the way we find out if it's healthy or not is catching invertebrates or rating it with A, B, C, D. Our creek next to the school was (A) lucky it wasn't (D) because if it was it would it will be gunky, and lucky it was (A) because (A) means the creek is super healthy but doesn't mean can you can drink from it.

Now, do you see why the environment is so important? What are
some things that you think are important for the environment?

Yesterday at school on Wednesday, the kea class went into the Hoiho class. There was a Magician show in there, his name was Vas Kolovski!

First, he made fake feather flowers come out of a wand and then he introduced himself. He talked about healthy eating, he showed us this big poster with a plate on it. It had five different foods it had dairy, fruits, vegetables, protein, grains.

Secondly, He took Alanna up with him and they both did magic but Alanna couldn't hold the ball. She kept on dropping it.

Thirdly, Vas Kolovski told Dominic to come up, and he gave him a party hat and it kept on getting bigger. Then it went over her inter-head and it showed a picture of an unhealthy person.

My favorite part was when he pulled lots of clothes and pull out a big flower pot.

Duck Creek

Visit to Duck Creek
On Friday last week, we went to Duck Creek. We found all sorts invertebrates. We found mayflies, snails, dobsonfly, stoneflies, and water boatmen.

Out of all the groups, we caught about at least 100 mayflies. I got a big net and caught about 1000 in there, there so many that I had to take them out.

We found plenty of Snails, they were all very small though they were only Snails. We pulled up a big rock and it had lots and lots of Snails on it.

My group went near the bridge. We found a huge bug called a Dobsonfly. The first one we found bit Luke and we looked for another Dobsonfly and we found one.

In summary, we went to Duck Creek because we wanted to find all the sorts of invertebrates. We found a lot!

Water Cycle Information report

The Water Cycle
Have you ever heard of the water cycle? The water cycle is like a wheel spinning around & around but bigger. It goes all around the world. This is the order it goes in evaporation or transpiration, condensation, precipitation. Humans are the less amount of water.

Have you ever poured water on the ground in the sun and came back later. It's disappeared well ill tell you where it went. Transportation is part of evaporation but the water that comes from plants.

The condition is when your window looks white with bits of water dripping down it like gunk sliding down it.

Precipitation is when it rains, hails, snows and sleets. Groundwater is part of pacification because it is underground.

In summary, the water cycle is just water that's going around in a cycle that never stops.

We planted the tree

Planting Tree
On Tuesday morning the Kea class planted a Banksia tree on the East side of the field. We planted it because we wanted more birds and oxygen at our school.

Firstly, we all got tools we needed. We got a spade, an iPod, a meter ruler, a wheelbarrow and the Banksia tree.

Secondly, Dominic started to dig a hole that looked like a dirty ice cube. Then we put the tree in the hole.

Thirdly, we all surrounded the tree and we started compressing the dirt around it. Billie did most of it and everyone only did a little bit.

Lastly, we had a classroom photo. I sat down by the Banksia tree and so did Matthew. Everyone else stood up behind Banksia tree.

My favorite part was holding the Banksia tree. It was my favorite part was because I love planting trees.
